Ready to Volunteer?

Committed, caring volunteers/tutors are the driving force that make these programs work!

Here's what you need to know:

  • It's easy! Materials are simple and straightforward. You don't need teaching or tutoring experience.
  • It takes motivation! A strong belief in the importance of education is critical.
  • It's fun and rewarding! Your help will make a difference in these students' lives.

While most volunteer activities do not require special skills, all volunteer efforts require patience, flexibility and a positive attitude. Training is always provided to new tutors.

Here's how it works:

  • Complete an application
  • You will be scheduled at the desired school (Fall to mid-May)
    • One day/week as a regular tutor or
    • Once every 4-6 weeks as an active substitute
  • You will receive training on the program curriculum and processes

Tutors will typically volunteer one day/week for 1-2 hours, depending on the school and the program they are volunteering for. A greater commitment is possible and always appreciated (e.g. two days/week). Flexible scheduling is possible and can be accommodated.
